Mandalas: Colors, Emotions and Culture
Over six weeks, students will use mandalas as a symbolic tool to explore the relationship between colors and emotions. They will enhance their ability to recognize and understand emotions, while also discovering how mandala creation can be utilized to manage and cope with stress. Additionally, students will gain insights into the cultural significance of mandalas.
The Mandalas: Colors, Emotions, and Culture is an after-school program designed to provide a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for students outside of regular school hours. Through academic support, recreational activities, and skill-building opportunities, we aim to foster holistic development and promote the well-being of participating students.
Over six weeks, students will explore the relationship between scribbling, emotions, and inclusion. I'm Not Just a Scribble" by Diane Alber is a children's book that celebrates creativity, individuality, and self-expression through art. The story revolves around a scribbled character who feels rejected and undervalued but eventually learns the importance of self-acceptance and the beauty of being unique. The book encourages children to embrace their artistic impulses and to see value in their creations, no matter how unconventional.
Zen doodling, is a form of meditative drawing that emphasizes the creation of patterns and designs that are also unique. It focuses on the process of drawing as a means of relaxation, mindfulness, and self-expression, The practice encourages individuals to let go of judgment and to enjoy the act of creating without a predetermined outcome.
